Big on the 2013 runways and a trend this year with many designers are thigh-high boots. So how do you take this great style and translate into your wardrobe while still looking high-style?
Below are a couple of ways to wear thigh high boots and still look totally chic, as opposed to looking like you’re out, um… you know.
1. Keep your clothes loose and kinda unflattering – Regardless of how you wear it, thigh-high boots add sex appeal to whatever you are wearing. For this reason, you can pull off a boxy shift or oversized shapeless sweater. Something less than flattering will balance out the inherent sexiness of the shoe style.
2. Dark on bottom, layered on top – For thigh-high boots that are skin tight, be sure to wear them with opaque tights, leggings, or dark skinnies, which leaves you plenty of room to add volume and texture on top. Add color, play with layers, or throw on a bright statement bag. This will help to keep the look chic.
3. Think Monochromatic – This will draw attention away from the severity of the style, and add a subtle touch of high-fashion drama without screaming it from the rooftops. Hue-on-hue layer is great here.
4. Long coats and Short Skirts – One way to rock this look is to use an overcoat or long trench coat that allow you sport a variety sorts of short, tight, sexy bottoms if you want to. The long cut of the coat slims and adds a touch of chic the look. If you opt for tight on the bottom, keep things a bit looser on the top.
